(Well, since we had no session this week and I was bored working OT, I decided that hopefully, when we have nothing else to do, I'll write up a story for you all about a monster or creature or something that COULD be in the game. Sometimes it'll actually be important, other times not. If you feel like making up a story about anything, feel free to put one up here too. Even a legend about yourself if you feel it merits it.)
"Aye, I heard it was seen last night. Well, I suppose seen is usually too strong a word for it. But Old Harris said he lost his prize goat and it's new kid, and he found it's hoofprint up on the roof of the barn. At least his children had the sense to stay inside this time. Not like the Maybury boy. No sign of him still. What's that, you've never heard of the beast? Well, I suppose you haven't been in the area long.
They say a fearsome devil stalks the hinterlands around these parts. People say all kindsa things, but no one really knows what made the creature. I think it's a wizard meddling in life beyond them. You know how wizards are, think they're gods, and won't take no for an answer. Till it kills them, which it usually will. Serves them right for meddling in things they oughtn't to. But then we all have to pay the price too. Others though think it was a man who broke his promise to a true devil. Cursed him with the body, suppose it could be that. Turned him into his own personal steed. Certainly looks like something a hellspawn'd ride. Fierce and nasty too, just the way they like 'em. And don't you start on about there bein' a mate again. Codswallop is what that is. There's only one of the damn things. Couldn't be more than one, or we'd have heard more. I know what that goblin said, but you know how they get about horses in general. And he's a goblin. Would'a sworn he could eat his own feet and dance a jig if he thought it'd get him something.
But were it came from aint important. The beast's out there and no denying that. No other way to explain it, and there have been a few people who've seen it. Could ask Old Raimer, or Jelsea. And she's never gonna tell ya about it, but little Elise out at the Academy used to have a twin brother. The beast loves to take weak things, especially children. We all know better than to let them out, or even open their windows on nights like the one we had last night. It know how to hunt, and that if it was caught by some folks strong enough, it'd have a real fight on its hands. Not that anyone here could take the beast. Perhaps if a few of the strongest were to get a hold of it, they might be able to do something, but not anyone on their own. Say it can strike fear even into the bravest of men, just with the sound of ti's terrible scream. Somethin' like a horse, but with more dog in it. And high as anything. It'd make your ears bleed to hear it, if it weren't so terrifying. Like something from the depths of the hells is pullin' at your very soul.
(I've overestimated how awake I am. More to come possibly tomorrow, though I promise nothing this time. Probably all be up before you guys find and fight it, if you ever even do.)
