-=The Land of the Iron Kings=-
Population
-50% HUman
-40% Orc/Half-orc
-10% Other
The Lands of the Iron Kings sometimes called "the Iron Lands" are located to the northwest of the Ordawn Empire spanning most of the iron mountains and into the plains beyond. Boasting a large orc/half-orc population, the people of these lands are often considered savages by Imperials. Despite these beliefs, the People of the Iron Lands have a very complex society centered in the great fortress towns each ruled by a different Lord. The culture of the Iron Lands is centered around a complex honor system. In this system, there are codes of conduct determined by class which dictate how one is supposed to behave in relation to those of higher and lower class.
Classes Ranked from Highest to lowest
-Nobility
-Warrior
-The Unhonored
-The Dishonored
The ranks of the nobility are determined almost entirely by bloodline, though it is possible to be adopted into a noble house. These are the rulers of the great stongholds and within these realms their word is absolute. The warrior class is somewhat flexible in its ranks. Any who can rove themselves to be a competent warrior with unimpaired honor can be considered to be a member of this class. The unhonored covers pretty much any non-noble, non-warrior profession. Here lies a majority of the population. The unhonored class also tends to have the most flexible honor codes but while they are not compelled by a strict code to seek honor, it is still possible for them to be downranked to be dishonored. The final class of the dishonored is the bottom of society in the Iron Lands. Most dishonors do not lead to a downgrade in class unless they are quite seveare, with the worst dishonors sending one straight to the ranks of the dishonored from which escape is almost impossible.
Beyond the strongholds, the mountainous regions of the Iron Lands are sparsely populated by civilized beings. Goblinoid tribes, barbarians, and other monstrous beings are the primary inhabitants of these regions and often spill into the Ordawn Empire on raids. Beyond the savage people of the unsettled regions of the Iron Mountains there are other dangers as well. The Iron Lands have a unusually sizable population of werewolves, which are incoporated into the honor system. Those who are turned into werewolves are relegated to the Dishonored class and can only reclaim their honor by turning a member of a noble house. The lands outside the strongholds are also plagued by wolves ang worg, considered to be the culling force of one of the god Furyblade. It is said that the only way to fend off the wolves as they approach at night is with one of the nine-ring broadswords carried by the guards of the strongholds. The auroch is the primary packbeast, steed, and source of meat for the people of the Iron Landsas well as the holy beast of Dawngaze and herds of them are common throughout the lands.
While not currently in conflict, historically, the dwarves of the ordawn empire have been at war with the people of the iron lands and have held the grudge for being driven from the mountains which they once laid claim to. Ruined and lost dwarven holds can be found in the iron mountains, some pristine and untouched whith their gates sealed, others now home to beasts and savages.
