History
The Tronstad Commonwealth is a nation that was formed out of necessity. The Arleth Empire had set its sights on taking over the entirety of the continent of Airetre. No longer happy with the majority of the western coastline as its territory, the Empire dreamed of claiming the independent cities on the eastern side Airetre. The major cities on the eastern side of the continent were: Westhold, Aldhill, Ordand, Redview, Port Oakdale and Foxhurst. Foxhurst was home to a man named Vance Tronstad. He was not particularly strong, but he had a great mind. More importantly he had the courage to stand up to the Arleth Empire. Before Vance Tronstad came along, these six cities spent most of their time in disagreement over quite trivial matters and tended to avoid cooperation whenever possible.
Tronstad sent out envoys to each city when the Arleth Empire had started its war machine. The message was clear: If we do not work together while faced with this great peril, our downfall is imminent. The leaders of each other city agreed with Tronstad. None of the others had the courage to attempt such a feat, fearing that it would show a lack of confidence in terms of defense, perhaps making them a target for further attacks. Due to Tronstad being the man who had decided to step forward to form this alliance, it was named in his honor. The Tronstad Commonwealth was formed.
An army comprised of soldiers from each city was put up to the task of defending the initial assault from the Arleth Empire. Troops from the Empire were surprised when they approached the walls of Westhold and met an army comprised of 6 flags. The combined might of the six city-states was enough to stall the empire's offensive, and eventually turn the tide of the war.
After the war was over, the Commonwealth remained intact after the war. After cooperating, the city-states involved saw how beneficial it was to work together, and to this day they have remained close. The many benefits of their combined strengths has turned them into one of the primary powers in Airetre. They choose not to focus heavily on military campaigns, but they do have a well trained army ready to go to take care of any threats aimed at themselves, or their neighbors.
